Also known as embossed glass, this elegant technique is often overlooked,  I love it not only as a form of expression but also as an enhanced use for clear glass.  Creating a design using texture is a great asset for privacy windows where light is the main requirement.

Glass art which is designed for use in windows must pay special attention to "light." It is transmitted light that "brings the artwork to life." In kiln carved (a.k.a. embossed) glass, the transmitted light "catches" on and reveals the embossed pattern. Embossing clear glass creates visual excitement with no loss of light and performs the function of being a "screening element" where privacy is an issue.
